Along with the people who we (will) choose to operate our store with, the most important business decision that we have made to date has been which coffee roaster to use. When we set out to find a roaster we were looking for three things: 1) we wanted to do business in our region, 2) we wanted the best beans possible, and 3) we wanted to find a company with similar values as our own. When we first laid out these criteria, we assumed that the task at hand would be a daunting one. And then we came across Higher Ground Roasters.

Located just south of Birmingham, Higher Ground’s commitment to quality is also a social and an environmental commitment. Higher Ground roasts exclusively Fair Trade Organic and Shade Grown coffees to ensure that independent farmers are compensated fairly for their harvest, and that the integrity of the natural environment is preserved.

On top of Higher Ground’s commitment to the best coffee by the fairest means, they are also very active in their community.

In short, Higher Ground beans make a mean cup of coffee and they are great to do business with.
